A Fresh Start For Spring

I have always been an optimist when it comes to how I view life. Over the years of my life experiences, I’ve noticed that worrying only aged me and things that I worried about always turned out better in the end. Therefore, my perspective changed. Anytime things don’t go as planned, my faith and experience helps me stay present and not worry about the future. Don’t get me wrong! I usually have a day where everything dawns on me, but I don’t stay in that mood for too long. I pick myself back up and find a solution until things get better. The best thing you can do for yourself right now is to stay positive.

How To Be Happy During Quarantine

  1. Give yourself permission to feel your feelings – Fear, disappointment, uncertainty, loneliness, or even elation to have a break from the daily grind. Allow any and all of these to be O.K. What’s the opportunity? Once you feel your feelings, it might be time to create some structure and set up a daily flow. In order to flow you need a schedule. What are you doing when?

2. Throw yourself into a passion project or hobby – Blogging has always been my escape when feel overwhelmed with life or things I can’t control. When I create content, I am connecting with my inner child which helps feel sane and happy.

3. Help others — I can’t drive around, but I was able to donate some money to those who are unfortunate. Find a local charity or volunteer program in your area. If you’re not under strict isolation rules yourself, and you’re in a position to do so, find ways to support those in need by offering to run errands and collect supplies for them.

4. Stay connected — Make the most of technology and stay in touch with colleagues, friends and family via phone calls, texts, social media and video conferencing.

5. Limit media intake — Stay informed about the situation via reliable sources, but limit your news and social media intake to avoid feeling overwhelmed.

6. Avoid burnout — Set strict limits to your work to avoid becoming overwhelmed and make time to unwind.

7. Focus on the positives — Amplify good news stories and honor caregivers working tirelessly to resolve the situation.

8. Take one day at a time — Try not to project too far into the future. Remember that these are temporary measures and you are not alone.

We’re all in this together. The best thing you can do for yourself is to be loving, kind, compassionate, and grateful. Life is the gift.

Stay Safe, Stay Healthy!

With Love Always,

Ife

I feel like avoiding burnout is especially necessary right now. It’s something I’ve been experiencing because I’m a total workaholic and I haven’t been working in the same ways I normally would with my husband home all the time and social media being such a different place. However, I’m still finding ways to enjoy hobbies or alternate methods of inspiration so my burnout doesn’t last too long!

Such great tips! I feel like with everything going on it can be so easy to get into a slump– it’s good to get your mind on other things. Loving this beautiful dress as well!

First off — these captures are BEAUTIFUL! I love the pops of color, and you look stunning. Secondly, I really like your tip emphasizing the importance of recognizing your (real) feelings. It’s okay to admit when we are struggling. It’s okay to admit we may actually be enjoying the time to slow-down and reboot. All feelings are justified. The “throw yourself into a passion project/hobby” tip I also love. I’ve been getting into DIY’ing even more. Thanks so much for these excellent reminders! 💕
