WELCOME TO WAKANDA

Hey Loves! Hope you are doing well? This post is coming a little bit late, but better late than never. I saw Black Panther last month. I’ll have to say it is the best action, heroic, romantic movie I have seen this year. From the cast to the outfits and hair styles everything was major and on point. I wore my Ankara outfit to see the movie and i felt magical. I mean what better way to celebrate than showing up in African-inspired attire perfectly suited for the film? It’s not every day we get a blockbuster movie with a black superhero, black director and mainly black cast, set in Africa, with black beauty front and center. Just like Wakanda is a magical black nation, movie theaters are about to be overflowing with enough black fashion and creativity to make you think you’re in a Beyonce and Jidenna “All of the Stars” video.

The film transcends the story of Wakanda or villainous superheroes or vibranium. It’s an opportunity for Black people to use fashion to celebrate a vision of Blackness that is free of the stifling effects of racism. I’m hoping you’ve seen Black Panther by now. I don’t want share any spoilers for the late people in back *squints eyes* what are you waiting for? The movie portrays Africa in a very positive and futuristic manner. That’s something we don’t get to see much, so it’s huge. I was so excited to see everyone dressed up in their favorite African outfit and African inspired make up. Are you ready for the Avengers installment where we get to see more of Wakanda? Check out 4 fun things you can do in Nigeria.

With Love Always,
